Abstract:
As a vulnerable group in traffic accidents, pedestrians account for a high proportion of casualties in traffic accidents, and the head and lower limbs are the most injured parts in the accident. To improve pedestrian protection performance, passive safety method can not be used as only technology for breakthrough. Therefore, most of domestic and foreign car enterprises and relevant research institutions have increased investment and technical research on pedestrian safety. Due to use of conventional mechanical sensors to trigger the actuators, active pop-up hood are facing many problems, such as development costs and cycles, and also the mechanical sensors are prone to miss trigger or no trigger. In recent years, the perception sensor technology was arranged for advanced driving assistance system(ADAS), entering the stage of popularization, integrating autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and the hood system of ADAS. The camera and radar were used to effectively identify pedestrians and perceive the distance and speed, quickly trigger the hood to spring up, achieve the precise goal of pedestrian protection and reduce the cost. The results show that the new technology can greatly shorten development cycle and reduce the market false alarm rate. Its performance score reaches up to 30%, being higher than passive pedestrian protection, greatly improving the pedestrian protection.
