Abstract:
Mechanical properties and failure modes of fiber metal three-dimensional composites different layouts in different directions were analyzed. Tensile test, three-point flexural test and static indentation test were conducted composites. Tensile test showed that 0°/0° layout composites have the optimal tensile modulus, yield strength and tensile strength along the fiber direction, and have extremely weak mechanical properties in the perpendicular direction of fiber. 0°/90° layout composites have relatively weak mechanical properties because only one side of fiber is stretched, and deformation modes show bending deformation of sample. 0°/0° layout and 0°/90° layout composites have small differences in tensile shear properties. Flexural test showed that 0°/0° layout composites have the highest flexural resistance in the fiber direction. Static indentation tests show that 0°/0° layout and 0°/90° layout composites have similar damage resistance. The failure modes show that the fiber metal three-dimensional composites don't structural damage such as interface failure, and have excellent interfacial strength.
