Abstract:
Auditory brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) provide a means of non-muscular communication for locked-in state (LIS) patients who have compromised vision or lose the control of their eye movement. The bone-conduction paradigm was introduced into the auditory brain computer interface technology,so that patients with impaired air conduction pathway can also use this technology. It designs a dichotic listening paradigm by playing different sound stimulation sequences to both ears at the same time. The feature extraction and classification of EEG signals induced by bone conduction and air conduction. The results showed that targets elicited N200 and P300 component.EEG data has shown that the amplitude of N200 elicited by bone condition target was significantly higher than that of air condition target ones. These proposed methods both have high discriminant accuracy, the bone-conduction method is better than the air conduction method and can be used for auditory brain computer interface systems.
