Abstract:
The electromagnetic tube expansion was employed to investigate the forming limit of 6063 aluminum alloy. The electromagnetic tube bulging process loaded by different currents was analyzed. The results show that the characteristic of number of localization bands and fragments number increases with increasing strain rate. The critical strain of localization increases with increasing strain rate so that forming limits of aluminum alloy could be increased by forming at high strain rates. Furthermore, effects of inertia on nonuniform deformation were discussed.
