Abstract:
The relationship between granite's fractal characteristics of impacting fragments and dissipative energy based on split Hopkinson test device was investigated. The results show that there is a significant correlation to break per volume of the granite between the required energy and rock block size, feature size, uniformity coefficient, fractal dimension of fragmentation. It is more closer to the self-similarity characteristics than the block fractal dimension. The relationship between electron microscope image, dissipation energy and fragments surface's fractal dimension showed that lower dissipation energy broken the granite's inside microcracks into pieces along intergranular fracture. Higher dissipation of dissipation energy could make the granite's inside microcracks break into pieces with both transgranular failure and intergranular fracture. The fragment surfaces's fractal dimension reflected the damage degree of the fragment surfaces.
