Abstract:
A new method to assess skin burn severity was presented, which also provided a diagnostic tool for evaluating the recovery status after skin burn. Two kinds of oil samples with different transverse relaxation time
T2 were employed to simulate healthy and burned skins. A sandwich-like sample, which was stacked alternately by oil films and cover glasses, was constructed to simulate skin structure. Then,
T2 relaxation time and one-dimensional profile experiments were conducted on unilateral NMR spectrometer. In addition, the resolution measurement was done to find the vertical resolution of the spectrometer. NMR spectrometer can distinguish different oil samples based on
T2, and one-dimensional profile experiment can give an accurate frequency spectrum along depth direction. Thus, it is feasible to use unilateral NMR to assess the degree of skin burn.
