A Calculation Model for Bus Delay of Stops Considering the Control of Upstream Signal

  • Considering the lack of evaluation method for bus stop efficiency, the spatiotemporal trajectories chartswere used in this paper to describe the process of bus arrival, service and leaving at the stops. And the mathematical model among the bus delay, arrival rate and the service time were established taking into account the control of upstream signal. Then the proposed model was validated using surveys. The average relative errors between calculated values and data by surveying is 9.98%, which indicates that the model can accurately calculate the bus delay under different conditions.The results provide an important basis to evaluate service level of bus stops and analyze related factors.
