Mechanics Performance of Reactive Powder Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Under Repeated Impact Loading

  • Experiments on a group of 16 reactive powder concrete-filled steel tube (RPC-filled steel tube) specimens under repeated impact loading with different strain rates were performed by using <i<φ</i<75 mm-split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) apparatus, the corresponding dynamic stress-strain curves and failure modes were obtained. The experimental results show that RPC-filled steel tube still keep excellent mechanic performances at strain rates less than 80 s<sup<-1</sup<, but plastic deformations occur while RPC-filled steel tube at strain rates higher than 106 s<sup<-1</sup<. Good ductility is observed and core RPC are cracked finally. It is indicated that RPC-filled steel tube is a kind of protective engineering materials with higher strength, good ductility and integrity.
