Research on Multi-Dimension Information Transfer for Ambient Display with Light

  • Light is an appropriate medium for ambient display, which can provide people novel and aesthetical experience and convey ambient information. But since the abstract characteristic of information decoration in light, to convey diverse and specific detailed information and to increase information capacities in ambient displays become the challenges for designer. In this paper, based on the theories of proxemics interaction, the user's behavior to understand their wishes was analyzed, an interaction design framework was explored for ambient display, multiple dimensions and detailed information transfer. Results show that, based on the framework, the information capacity with light can be increased for ambient display with overlay mechanism, with appropriate transitions and keeping balance between unobtrusiveness and effectiveness.
