A New Method for the Detection of Salicylic Acid Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology

  • Salicylic acid is a kind of important organic raw material, which is widely used in many fields (medicine, spices, dyes and pesticides etc.). However its improper usage can cause serious harm to human body. A rapid and sensitive detection method of salicylic acid was developed in this paper, based on molecularly imprinted technology, methacrylic acid as monomer, ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate as crosslinking agent. The molecularly imprinted polymer film was prepared by photografting method. Surface plasmon resonance technology was used to study the adsorption behavior of the polymer films at different concentrations of salicylic acid. Results show that the prepared polymer film has a high recognition ability to target molecules. For the concentration range from 10-11 to 10-6 mol/L, a good linear relationship between the coupling angle shifts and the concentrations of salicylic acid indicates that this is a new potential method for the quick detection of salicylic acid.
