Adaptive Adjustment Algorithm for Non-Uniform Illumination Images Based on 2D Gamma Function

  • An adaptive adjustment algorithm for non-uniform illumination images based on 2D Gamma function was proposed in this paper. At first the reflection component was extracted by multi-scale Gaussian functions. Then a 2D Gamma function fed by the local characteristic of reflection component was constructed to decrease the intensity at the bright region and increase the intensity at the dark region in the luminance domain. Finally the non-uniform illumination images was corrected adaptively by the proposed algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in reducing the impaction caused by non-uniform illumination and enhancing the quality of the images.
