Experimental Research on Driving Metal Acceleration Capability of CL20-Based Aluminized Explosives

  • The driving capability of new CL20-based aluminized explosives was researched. TNT, JH-16 and the CL20-based aluminized explosives were used in the Φ50 mm standard cylinder test, and the scanning photos of the expansion process of cylindrical wall were obtained. By fitting data the maximum expansion speed of the cylindrical wall was gained under the three kinds of explosives loading conditions, and then the Gurney coefficient of three kinds of explosives was calculated. The results show that: when the explosive is JH-16 and CL20-based aluminized explosives, the muzzle velocity of fragments are respectively 23.0% and 36.3% higher than TNT, and the Gurney coefficients also are respectively 20.2% and 24.5% higher.
