Numerical Simulation on Deformation Behavior of Multi-Layers Steel Cylindrical Structure Under Internal Intense Blast Loading

  • Multi-layer structures are commonly used to resist explosive shock wave. It is urged to rapidly and accurately predict the dynamic response of the multilayer protective structure under internal intense blast loading. Based on the FEA software LS-DYNA, the dynamic response of multilayer protective structure which was made by Q345 steel under three different charges mass was analyzed by using CONWEP and ALE model. Comparing with the experimental results, the validity of the numerical simulation had been proved. It is concluded that, under large charge scaled distance(<0.152 m/kg<sup<1/3</sup<), the dynamic behavior of multilayer protective structure can be predicted credibly and simply by using CONWEP model. The explosion energy is transferred from layer to layer through collision by using the multi-layer structure. The inner layers absorb about 90% of the total energy applied to the structure by plastic deformation.
