Research on Crossbar Energy Saving of CMP Based on Frequent Exchanged Value

  • To reduce the dynamic energy of embedded chip multiprocessors (CMP) interconnect network, a method of crossbar energy saving of CMP based on frequent exchanged value was proposed. Concerning the value locality of the CMP interconnects,a frequent exchanged value cache (FEVC) was produced, which made use of the reduction of the traffic and the bit switching on the connection to reduce the energy consuming efficiently on chip crossbar interconnection. To achieve the best effect of energy saving, the saved values number of FEVC was determined by the experiment. Compared with the original system, the results show that the proposed method can realize energy saving 13% when the FEVC is separately used with four data value entries, and the energy saving proportion can be reached 20% when it is combined with the invert code algorithm.
