A Colored QR Code Design Principle and Encoding-Decoding Implementation

  • Aiming at the technical disadvantage and the applied bottle-neck of the traditional QR barcode, a technical scheme of colored QR barcode was put forward. The space complexity of algorithm was reduced by expanding code-word symbol size and reducing the symbol quantity. Besides, only one encoding modem was taken, which controls encoding by bit length identifier, to achieve the purpose of code-word stream compressed. In order to reduce the difficulty of decoding identification, selecting six kinds of color of maximal contrast were mapped into the code-word stream. Simulation results show the colored QR barcode technology has higher information density, larger capacity, and stronger visual expression than that of the traditional QR barcode technology. This technical scheme is effective and feasible.
