Entrepreneurial Universities’ Strategic Planning Based on Contingency Theory—The Analysis of Warwick University’s 2015 Strategy

This paper analyzes the characteristics and backgrounds of Warwick's 2015 strategic planning with the framework of contingency theory aiming to obtain some common features of entrepreneurial universities' strategic planning. The study shows that entrepreneurial university's strategic planning has flexibility and uniformity,pay more attention to stakeholder demands,and have top-down and bottom-up planning process. Especially,the mission and values rooted in the university play a key role in making the strategy. Therefore,it can provide some inspiration for the construction of modern universities in China by drawing on some experience of the entrepreneurial university strategic planning.
