The Necessity and Practicability of China’s Legislation on National Space Law

China’s legislation on a national space law lagged behind the rapid development of its space industry. The legislation of a comprehensive national space law becomes the key to the further growth of China’s space industry. The legislation will meet the demand of the maintenance of the outer space security, development of the national defense system, innovation of the space technology, improvement of the China-specific socialist legal system and enhancement of the international communication and the inclusive development of outer space. It reflects the urgent need to pursue a sustainable development of Chinese space industry, to insure the security and safety of Chinese space property and space activities, to develop the commercial space activities, to improve China’s diplomatic situation and implement strategies in outer space. The legislation already has the ideological and legislation bases, and it can benefit from foreign legislation experiences and international cooperation related to space legislation in which China is involved.
