The Diachronic Evolution on the Degree Adverbs “te” in Beijing Vernacular(1750—1950)

The degree adverbs“te”in Beijing vernacular mainly consists of“te”，“tete” and “te wei”. “te”is the most representative adverb and mainly assumes grammatical functions. It can modify VP、NP、NumP and S in A Dream of the Red Mansions，Biography of the Heroic Youth，but it can only modify NP in the period of Lao She; The grammatical function of“Fan Shi”is similar with“Fan”，it underwent the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization. In A Dream of the Red Mansions，“Da Fan”mainly modify NP，but in Biography of the Heroic Youth it mainly modify NP and S. In the 200 years of diachronic evolution，the degree adverbs like“Fan” have undergone the process that“Fan”mainly assumed the grammatical function in “The Red Chamer Dream” era，and in the period of Biography of the Heroic Youth，“Fan”，“Da Fan”，“Fan Shi” commonly assume the grammatical function. However now it is assumed by “Fan” and “Fan Shi”.
