Analysis of the Situation of Women in Commercial Activities in Song Dynasty

In the prosperous market, women were engaged in commercial activities out of home in Song Dynasty. The Scholar-Officials’ writings about businesswomen carried the signs of the times, gender and social class. In general, these women were of lower social classes who worked for livelihood. However, some were tempted by high profits, willing to take risks for lucrative ventures.
