Stephen Owen’s Literary Translation Thoughts

From the cultural perspective， this paper explores his translation thoughts such as the collaboration of“Chineseness” and“world”， the translatability of poetry， the role of as literary broker and cultural agent， and the acceptability. He attaches importance to the representation of the diversified register and style as well as the transparency and localization. The translation strategy makes contribution to the diffusion of Chinese literature in the United States.
