Research on the Current Situation and Strategy for Guangxi Industrial Agglomeration

Industrial agglomeration, which can strongly promote the development of regional economy, is a phenomenon of concentrated industrial activities in space. To measure industry concentration in Guangxi, and to analyze its impact on economic development, the following work has been done. Firstly, the Location Quotient and Regional Division Index of Guangxi Province were calculated; later on, these quotients were compared with those in other provinces and cities; and finally, the analysis of the development tendency of Guangxi industrial agglomeration over the past five years was undertaken. Results showed that there are few competitive industries in Guangxi, whose structure is irrational with low levels of both industry agglomeration and regional division. But it can be seen from the trend that the degree of strong industrial agglomeration is increasing. Thus, according to the current situation, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.
