Cognition and Application of Granular Matter in Ancient China

Granular matter are prevalent in nature, and our daily life, industrial production and engineering building. The force-chain network and the role of friction between the particles constitute a system of granular matter which behaves the silo-effect, arching, heap, segregation, energy dissipation, and plasticity. The cognition and application of granular matter in ancient China are investigated, which is not only an important excavation for ancient science and culture but also a very good inspiration for continually studying granular matter.
