On the Origin of"the Same Origin of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting"

The theory that presupposes "the Same Origin of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting"is concerned with the problem of whether the Chinese Paintings and characters have the same origin. Zhang Yanyuan of the Tang Dynasty took the lead in explaining the view. By illustrating the differences and similarities between Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, the paper attempts to explore the ideogram-source of Chinese characters and the definition of the scope of "painting". Finally, it draws the conclusion that the Drawings and Paintings of China and Chinese characters are from the same origin-"picture".
