Analysis of Desolation Aesthetics in Palace Poetry of Nan Dynasty－－Searching for their Psychology

The palace poetry of Nan Dynasty (AD.420-589) expresses a strong aesthetic tendency which takes desolation as pleasure and is remarkable in the following aspects. First of all, poetry is always willing to represent ruthful women. Besides, poetry exerts all powers to the description of women’s tear stains, worried looks, distress and resentment. Finally the women's images of the previous dynasties in poetry derive from the women who fall into disfavor or frustrations. This aesthetic tendency reflects the psychological states of the poets, including pleasure in women, male chauvinism and emotional catharsis.
