Humans and Horses-A Discussion on Horse Images in Su Shi's Poems and Articles

The horse image in Su Shi's works not only absorbs the ideas, emotions and artistic nutrition of ancestors'literary creations, but also possesses new thoughts and transcendences. He struggled in a dilemma between proud of patriotism and shame of obstacles and distresses, so he has a deep feeling about the cruel brutality of ancient society's autocracy; he has rather in-depth contemplations on scholar-bureaucrat's petty and low character in face of imperial power; besides, he also has nasty confusions in front of the limitations of society and time. Therefore, his representative works relating to horses demonstrate rich connotations and unique art style. Key words: horse
