Loss of Cultural Implications for Relational Vocatives in the English Version of A Dream of Red Mansions

As there are so many characters and many complex relational vocatives which are best reflected by Chinese traditional culture in A Dream of Red Mansions, it is necessary to analyze the substantial differences between Chinese and English relational vocatives.This thesis examines the loss of cultural contents by comparing the English and Chinese relational vocatives, and attempts to find out some feasible remedies as from the English version of A Dream of Red Mansions by Yang Xianyi.
