An Exploration on Tang Wen-zhi's Higher Educational Thoughts

Tang Wen-zhi was a famous educationist in the Modern History of Chinese Higher Education. He left us richfull educational thoughts and educational practices when he governed Shanghai Higher School of Natural Science. Many of his works were not only valuable resources to the research about Modern Chinese Higher Education, but also a valuable heritage to the research about Modern Chinese Society. Based on many of Tang' educational works, the paper insists that although Mr. Tang' educational thoughts and practices was formed in the special background of Chinese history, however, his statements about the forming of healthy characteristics, moral education, relationship between academics and talents and his thoughts about higher engineering education have deep implications to Chinese higher education today.
