On the Cultural and Psychological Influences upon the Translation of Metaphors

The translation of metaphor takes on two trends of translatable and untranslatable qualities when Chinese metaphor is being transplanted into English.And metaphor is a psychological phenomenon,in which the translator's cultural values,national psycho-orientation and his/her personalized emotional experience will all contribute to his/ her diverse psychological perception and association on the ground of which different understanding and expression occur.Therefore,the aptness in terms of culture and psychology is the criteria for the translatability of metaphor instead of equivalence.
