Aesthetic Culture: The“Third Culture”of Higher Education in China

Aesthetic culture (asthetische Kultur) is the solid psychological foundation of the scientific culture, and a very importantstage of humanistic culture. There are always conflicts between the scientism and humanism in the pursuit of reason, values andpractice. But it is aesthetic culture that transcends, synchronizes and perfects the conflicts of the two cultures. Aesthetic culturestands out as the independent Third Culture. From the viewpoint of academics, the orientation of aesthetic culture also goes beyondthe limits of traditional aesthetics. To construct a higher education of epistemology, axiology and practice based on aesthetic cultureonly serves to highlight and emphasize the importance of aesthetic factor in higher education.
