On the Crisis of the Methodology of Comparative Poetics and the Derivation of the Historical Semantics of“Comparison”

A comparative approach used to be the most representative one in comparative poetics. However, in the past decades this approach is much questioned in relation to the methodology of comparative poetics due to the fact that only the semantics of “comparisoni”s concerned. With the expansion of comparative poetics study, some scholars propose to“transgresst”he borders of “comparisoni”n comparative poetics. This paper, nonetheless, affirms the importance of“comparisoni”n comparative poetics and adheres to this approach. A derivation of the historical semantics of“comparisoni”n this paper indicates that on matter in the past or in the future“comparisoni”s the theoretical foundation of comparative poetics.
