QiYunshi and the Study of the History and Geography in the Northwestern Areas during the Jiaqing to Daoguang Periods of the Qing Dynasty

This paper discusses Qi Yunshi'academic contribution to the study of the History and Geography of the Northwestern areas. The author holds that Qi fully combined more materials in his study than the other scholars before his time, that benefits lot scholars in their later study. His books displayed clearly the academic atmosphere and the characteristics of pursuing studies in his time and directed the trend of the later studies on History and Geography of Northwestern areas. Qi's restage as a scholar on History and Geography of Northwestern areas in the period of Emperor Daoguang displays the development of research on Northwestern areas in the Qing Danasty.
