On the Consonance Concept of the School of Orient Culture during the Period of May 4th Movement in 1919.

During the period of May 4th Movement, when the intellectuals were locked in the hot arguments about culture selection and the comments on Confucius, the school of Orient Culture also took part in the discussion and became an important school in this Eastern and Western Culture Argument. On one hand, they advocate the conservation of traditions and the flourish of Confucianism; on the other hand, they against the stubborn and narrow-minded attitudes towards old fashion; they advocate the mixture of East and West; they criticize the deifying of Confucius. All these opinions had great influence on the societies at that time. The mixture of East and West and the mediate of the new and the old are the basic features of the Orient Culture. This feature formed in the intense conflict between new and old ideas shows the difficulty of Culture Selection at the end of 1910s.
