Sociological Cognition of the Impact of Communication Technology

The invention and application of communication technologies represented by printing, TV communication, and network technologies have exerted a great influence on the development of human society in every respect. In the historic and current view, the communication technologies not only regulate the orientation of communication activities, but make a remarkable impact on mode of thought and behavior, and even society transition as well. Sociologists should in their culture research take more "humane care"as far as the social forces of technological elements are concerned. As to the attitude toward technology, cautions should be taken against over emphasis on high tech; also, caution must be used against wholesale borrowing of western criticism toward technology. It is especiallytrue in the present China, for the "absence" of technology is still a main obstacle to our speedy development as a post-generating modern country. "Technology admiration" in its scientific sense is still instructive.
