Abstract:
Based on the dynamic monitoring data of migrant population nationwide in 2017, the main influence of employment quality of rural migrant workers on their settlement intention and the related mechanism were investigated. The results show that the employment quality of rural migrant workers has a significant positive impact on their settlement intention; employment quality exerts a greater impact on the settlement intention of female rural migrant workers than that of male ones. Its impact on the settlement intention of well-educated migrant workers is greater than that of little-educated migrant workers. Employment quality affects younger rural migrant workers more significantly than the elder ones; by further examining the intermediary mechanism of the impact of employment quality of rural migrant workers on their settlement intention, it was found that employment quality affects the settlement intention of migrant workers by influencing their housing quality and intention of social integration; the public service level migrant workers enjoy positively regulates the positive impact of migrant workers' employment quality on their willingness to settle down. It is proposed in this paper that the willingness of migrant workers to settle down in cities should be enhanced by improving the quality of employment and public services.
