Abstract:
Structural equation modelling analysis was applied to empirically examine the effects of regulatory mechanisms of sharing platforms on perceived privacy risk, consumer trust, and continuous sharing intention. The empirical results revealed:(1)government regulation was negatively related to perceived privacy risk, industry self-regulation was not negatively related to it, and interaction of government regulation and industry self-regulation had significant negative effects on perceived privacy risk;(2)perceived privacy risk had significant negative effects on both consumer trust and continuous sharing intention;(3)consumer trust had positive effects on continuous sharing intention. Our research findings can help Chinese government authorities to formulate related policies to strengthen sound regulation on sharing economy in China, and also provide managerial insights to managers of Chinese sharing economy enterprises for optimizing platform mechanisms such as trust mechanism and privacy assurance mechanisms, so as to boost Chinese sharing economy to develop in a healthy, stable, and sustainable manner.
