Abstract:
The influence of family capital on the scientific literacy of minors is being paid more and more attention to. An ordinary OLS regression model was built to study the influence of family capital on the scientific literacy of minors, using the sampling survey data of 2000 questionnaires about students under 18 and their parents in Shanghai's Pudong New Area. Data analysis showed that factors such as the demography, cultural background, income of parents, and family structure have a different degree of impact on minors'scientific literacy. In this regard, it is necessary to strengthen science education in primary and secondary schools; in addition, science popularization should be carried out among minors from needy families.
